"That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowedging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus." PHILEMON 1:6

If we do not acknowledge by knowing and saying the good things that are ours or in us in Christ Jesus, then we can not communicate or tell others about our faith effectively!

To know Him and the Power of His Resurrection

"He died and rose again according to the scriptures"

We are to "know him and the power of His resurrection.

Whereas Jesus Christ's death was our justification,
His rising was our justification justified.

"Because I live, ye shall live also."
One in His resurrection

One with Christ in His dying, we are also one with Him
in His resurrection.

He is joined to His people, that He can carry them with
Him through the pains and penalties of death. And
now in the same partnership He brings us up again from
the dead.

"If then ye were raised together with Christ"
Colossians 3:1
Quickened together with Jesus Christ

"God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith
he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath
quickened [made us alive] us together with Christ, (by
grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus" Ephesians 3:4-6

"And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircum-
cision of your fleshh, hath he quickened together with
him, having forgiven you all trespasses"
Colossians 2:13
Risen with Christ

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which
are above, where Christ setteth on the right hand of God"
Colossians 3:1

Free from Sin

"For he that is dead is freed from sin."
Romans 6:7

"For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."
Colossians 3:3
Baptized into one Body

Spiritual union is independent of time and space.
And in intimacy there can be no difference between
the believer of today and those who knew Him on
earth, since "For by one Spirit are we all baptized
into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles,
whether we be bond or free; and have been all
made to drink into one Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:13

And also into one death; "Know ye not, that so
many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death?" Romans 6:3
Crucified with Christ Jesus

" I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith
of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave
himself for me.."
Galatians 2:20

"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified
with him, that the body of sin might be
destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve
sin." Romans 6:6

"And they that are Christ's have crucified the
flesh with the affections and lusts."
Galatians 5:24
The Bride of Christ, His Church

"Here at length I beheld the two-fold mystery of
love, that the Bride is both of Christ and in Christ.
For as God took Eve from out of the side of Adam,
that she might be joined to him again in marriage,
even so He frameth His Church out of the very
flesh, the very wounded and bleeding side of the
Son of man, so that in faith he might 'present her
[us] as chaste virgin to Christ'."

2 Corinthians 11:2 "For I am jealous over you with
godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one
husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin
to Christ."
Bonded intimately with Jesus Christ

It must be a truly intimate bond which begins in
Christ and surrounds us with triple cords of faith,
hope and charity, ending again in Christ.

It marks its origin and end, the one Head who is
the 'Alpha and Omega', the 'Beginning and the
End', the 'First and the Last'.
Called unto His Fellowship

"Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye
may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the
fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:8

The inward meaning is 'in Christ', that deeper
inner fellowship into which God has called us in
His Son.
Walking as He walked

"I in Christ"

Yet if we know its meaning, we shall
not speak of it lightly.

"For he that saith he abideth in him
ought himself also so to walk, even
as he walked" 1 John 2:6
Created unto good works

"We are created in Christ Jesus unto
good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in
them" Ephesians 2:10

What a solemn obligation it is on
those who are truly in Christ.
Not under condemnation

"Now there is no condemation to
those who are in Christ Jesus"

We are to be as He is before God,
and equally be as He is before men.
Partakers of His holiness

Our relation to Jesus Christ also
determines our Christian walk.

A true Christian walk is a re-
producing of righteousness in our
lives which is already ours in Him.

Joined to Him by faith, we become
"partakers of his holiness" as well
as our own holiness.
To live like Christ

"For to me to live is Christ."

The believer is to have "the mind
of Christ" within and the "spirit of
Christ" without.

They're "growing up into him in all
things who is the head, even Christ."

They're to attain "the perfect man,"
"the measure of the stature of the
fullness of Christ." He is the ideal!
Trees Planted by Rivers

"he shall be like a tree planted by the
rivers of water, that bringeth forth
his fruit in his season; his leaf also
shall not wither, and whatsoever he
doeth shall prosper."

Bless are we who instead of wanting
to be like Christ as something without
Him, we are planted in Him.
Christlike

"Without me [apart from me, in
separation from me] ye can do nothing."

To abide in Christ is the only secret to
being like Christ!

We don't want to be just copies; we want
to be originals.
Branches of the Vine

"I am the vine, ye are the branches,"
says Jesus Christ. But the vine furnishes
the branches, not only with life, but with
the type of life.

No pressure or molding is needed to
shape branches into the pattern of the
vine. Form, color, taste, and fragrance

is determined by the root.

If we abide in the vine, God will make us
just like Himself!
The Body of Christ.

"As the body is one, and hath many
members, and all the members of
that one body, being many, are one
body: so also is Christ."

Now we are the body of Christ and
members in particular.

" For no man ever yet hated his own
flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth
it, even as the Lord the church:
For we are members of his body, of

his flesh, and of his bones."
Ephesians 5:29-30
Sons of God

Jesus Christ became the "Son of man,"
so that we might become the "sons of
God."

He took upon Himself our human
nature, that we might be made
"partakers of the divine nature."

He was made sin for us, that we might be
made the "righteousness of God in him".
Filled with His Fullness

In Jesus Christ the need of our souls
is met. It is emptied of self and it is
filled with His fullness "who filleth
all in all." Ephesians 1:23
Living, Moving and Being in Him

In God there is a more excellent way
which His Word has made clear.

And by which His name will be glorified
forever.

And our spiritual lives will be continually
renewed.

"for in Him we live and move and have
our being,"
One with God

The union of the believer with the Lord is
a mutual union.

"Ye in me, and I in you"

Christ both gives and takes. . . .He gives
the Father's life and blessings, and takes
the believer's death and misery.

All that Christ has now becomes the
property of the believer; all the believer
has becomes the property of Christ.
